Parishes

Parishioners at Work

Mission Together would like to thank the children of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire, who, thanks to their generous cake-baking and enthusiastic fundraising, last month (February 2017) managed to raise £132.32 to support the wellbeing of children around the world.

Parish Priest Fr Wayne Coughlin was understandly keen to celebrate his young parishioners’ efforts. As Missio’s Diocesan Director for Northampton, Fr Coughlin is well aware of how Mission Together fulfils Christ’s command, ‘To love one another as I have loved you.’  John 13:34-35

Thanks also to the adult members of Immaculate Heart of Mary parish, who emptied their pockets in support of Mission Together and gladly encouraged the youngsters in their efforts to be ‘children helping children’.

Congratulations to this group of five children from Our Lady of Lourdes and St Gregory the Great (Diocese of Salford), who celebrated their First Holy Communion in June. They marked the occasion by sharing a wonderful gift with children around the world. Instead of accepting presents, these youngsters generously asked guests to make donations to Mission Together. Thanks to this wonderful act of solidarity, Kiran, Austin, Benitta, Johan, Jeffin and their families, raised over £350 to support their brothers and sisters in impoverished parish communities overseas.
Their proud parents contacted us soon after the celebration to say; ‘Thank you very much for your help and prayers. Everything on the day went very well and it was a real blessing for all our children and our families.’
Please consider remembering Mission Together in your own Parish celebrations. It is a simple and powerful way to underline our commitment to Christ’s missionary teaching: “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are my disciples.” John 13:34-35

We are very grateful for all the support we recieve from parishes in the form of prayer and fundraising. From Christmas Crib collections to fundraising events to Children's Liturgy groups - every penny and every prayer make a huge difference.
