Materials 2017/2018

Ajay, Sayuri and Sr Ruby.

"Dear children, our hands are a symbol for our hearts and only open, generous hearts can change the world." Pope Francis

Each year Mission Together focuses attention on one of its many international projects. For 2017-18 our Together in Sri Lanka materials tell the true story of Ajay.

Ajay and his family were born on a tea estate in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. After many years without a school, the children today have a building in which to study, but the living conditions remain basic. Families are crammed into homes which cannot cope with the annual monsoon. There is no running water so neighbours share an outside water tap and toilet. There is no healthcare on the estate and the nearest hospital is far away in town.

With support from Mission Together, Sr Ruby brings nutrition and healthcare packs to the children and arranges for doctors and dentists to run clinics on the estate. Thanks to her and other visiting catholic missionaries, Ajay is growing up strong and healthy, meaning he and the other children attend school regulalry and are provided with an alternative future to that of their parents.

With your support, Mission Together could continue supplying nutrition and healthcare to children on the tea estate, as well as providing other children living in poverty overseas with access to education, shelter, healthcare and the chance to grow in knowledge of God’s love.

Our Together in Sri Lanka materials are ideal for assemblies and collective worship. See below to download Together in Sri Lanka materials and use our order form to obtain additional resources including posters, stickers, Red Boxes and Mission Rosaries.

Mission Together also provide seasonal liturgies and assemblies to help schools journey through the church year, downloads for which are available on our Advent, Lent, and Summer pages. We also have a team of experienced volunteers who can deliver assemblies at your school. To request a visit, please use our order form.

Mission Together receives no government funding and so relies entirely on donations from the public.  Please consider supporting our work in your school and parish.
