Under its original name of Holy Childhood, Mission Together has been active in Catholic schools for one hundred and seventy years. As the Catholic Church’s official children's charity for overseas mission, we have enabled generations of children to follow the example of Jesus by feeding the hungry with food and hope, giving the thirsty water and faith, caring for the sick with medicine and prayers, and welcoming strangers by seeing Christ in others.
What makes Mission Together so special is the fact that it is universal. While children in England and Wales pray and fund raise for children overseas, children around the world are also praying and sharing for others in an amazing exchange of faith and friendship.
On December 8th 2015, Pope Francis initiated a Jubilee Year of Mercy. This special year concluded on 20 November 2016. To mark this Mission Together and its parent charity Missio, produced primary and secondary versions of the assembly Our Mission, To Be Merciful. These assemblies focused on the key themes of the Jubilee, helped explain mercy and mission, and emphasized the ongoing call to act mercifully. Both assemblies were designed to be of use beyond the Jubilee. The primary version of Our Mission, To Be Merciful can be downloaded below. Our secondary resource is available at www.missio.org.uk
“Be concerned in a spiritual way for the education of children. Where young minds and hearts are shaped in love for the Lord and his Church, in the good, the true and the beautiful, and where children learn to be upright citizens.” Pope Francis
