Sun and Water - A Zambian Folk Tale

Sun and Water were good friends. Sun often visited Water’s home but Water never visited Sun. So one day Sun asked Water to visit him.

Water: Before I can visit, you need to build a very big house for me and all my family and friends.

Sun agreed, went back home and built a very big house.

Sun: I have built a very big house for Water to come and visit.

So water started to get into the house.

Water: Can I bring my family?

Sun: Yes. There is room.

So water’s family moved into the house.

Water: Can I bring my friends?

Sun: Yes there is still room.

So Water’s friends moved into the house.

Now the house was full of water so Sun moved on top of the roof.

Water: Is there still room for some of my people?

Sun: Yes there is still room.

So the water went right over the roof of the house. Sun had to move off the roof up into the sky. And that is how to this day the sun is up in the sky.

Mission Together

Children in Mission Together pray and share with each other.

Last year children in Mission Together in England and Wales sent £2,800 to St Charles’ School .

This gives each child a meal of nsima and stew or vegetable on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Now we would like to send a gift so that children can have a meal on Tuesday and Thursday each week as well.
