The true story of Davis from Zambia

Focus on Zambia

Davis lives in Zambia with his family. His dad dies. His mother is very poor. The family goes to live with his uncle.

His uncle and aunt have six children. There is not enough food for both families. Davis is hungry and very sad so he runs away to find food.

He lives on the street. Every day Davis goes to the market with other street boys. He carries the shoppers’ bags to make money.

One day, Lazarus, a youth worker, finds the boys. He takes them to the Catholic mission. The boys are given food and a safe place to sleep.

More boys come. Lazarus writes to Mission Together. A new community school opens. Street children are fed. They learn lessons and life skills. Davis now works. He helps his mother look after his family. He helps street children. He shares food with them and asks them to go to school.
