There is a special rosary called the mission rosary. Each decade stands for one of the five continents and is represented by a colour:

Asia - yellow;
Oceania - blue;
Europe - white;
North and South America - red;
Africa - green;

The mission rosary is often used to pray for world peace.

The following liturgy encourages children to join with children of the world in praying one decade of the mission rosary, or 2 Hail Marys on the mission rosary ring, for peace in each continent.

The rosary or the ring may be prayed over a period of one day, five days, five weeks or to suit particular circumstances.

The new Mysteries of Light are used.

Mission rosaries for children’s use are available from

Cathedral Books Ltd,
250 Chapel St,
Salford, M3 5LL
Tel 0161 833 0092
Fax 0161 831 9799

Alternatively, children may make their own mission rosaries or mission rosary rings, using a variety of materials.
