The Rainbow people (may be dramatised)

Narrator:   All the colours in the world started to quarrel and there was darkness.
Each claimed she was the most important.

Red:   I’m the colour of the poppy, the rose, blood, passion and fire. I bring warmth.
I am the most important.

Orange:   I fill the sky at sunrise and sunset with my beauty. I carry all the most important vitamins.
I am the most important.

Yellow:   The sun, the moon and the stars are yellow. I bring fun and laughter.
I am the most important.

Green:   I am the sign of life. I clothe the grass, the leaves and the trees.
I bring hope. I am the most important.

Blue:  I am the colour of the sky and the sea. I bring space, peace and serenity.
I am the most important.

Indigo:   You hardly notice me but you all need me. I stand for prayer and deep thought. You need me to keep balance.
I am the most important.

Violet:   I am the colour of royalty and power. Queens, chiefs and bishops choose me for my wisdom.
I am the most important.

Narrator:   Then came a great storm of rain, thunder and lightning.

Rain:   You foolish colours fighting amongst yourselves.
Don’t you know God made you all. Each of you is special.
Each of you has her own special job to do.
And now God will stretch each of you out along the sky to make a great bow of colour.
You will live alongside each other in peace.
You will bring light to the whole world and be a sign of hope.
You will be a reminder of God’s love for each person because everyone is special.

Colours each unroll a ribbon to stretch out to make a rainbow.
